Client Brief and Expectations:
Indian Broadcasting & Digital Foundation, IBDF is a unified representative body of the television broadcasters in India. The organisation was founded in the year 1999. Over 400 Indian television channels are associated with it. The organisation is credited as the spokesman of India Broadcasting Industry.
A not-for-profit organization, IBDF’s members comprise both news and non-news channels (GEC, sports, music, movies, infotainment, etc). Over the past twenty years, IBDF has worked arduously to earn its stripes and be considered the apex organization representing television broadcasters.
Client Brief:
The brief provided was to have a workplace that would support the day to day working of the foundation and also serve as a central hub for hosting the board meetings for the senior members of the broadcasting industry. The boardroom in particular was to be equipped with state of the art video conferencing facility to connect with foundation members across various locations.
Challenges:
The existing building structure was built in the 1990’s and has a waffle slab design. The low slab height posed a challenge in terms of coordinating the HVAC services etc. Access to natural light was limited in the given space.
Concept and Design Approach:
The space was designed to be timeless and classic. Use of solid wood paneling, incorporating biophilia brought in the necessary warmth to the space. Maximized use of glass for cabins ensured that the natural light flows across the office space.
The balcony space was designed to include a pantry. The addition of planter screens along the periphery provides a soothing element for the space.
