Client Brief and Expectations : Oldendorff carriers one of the world’s largest dry bulk shipping company, a family owned business headquartered in Lubeck – Germany wanted to maintain their global standards and bring in the essence of their stable shipping business into the office interior space.
Challenges : Maintain the global standards, bring out the essence of stability as a German company within Indian context.
Concept and Design Approach :
A minimalistic, clutter free design highly focused on employee wellbeing and comfort was the solution to this design brief and all the challenges put forth. Human ergonomic requirements were a global format for the company and the same was continued by providing each and every employee with a Sit-to-Stand automated height adjustable work desk.
Exposed services in the ceiling and deep blue carpeted flooring were reminiscence of the company’s core business at all time for its proud employees. For the visitor or anyone entering into the premise, the reception greeted them with a wooden deck flooring and rafter ceiling, sending a subtle message to the outside world and influencing the overall experience of anyone entering the premise.
Interesting attention to detail was given in the design of the doors in the reception area, wherein using circular cut-outs in sliding door with visible rivets, an entire experience of being on a ship deck was mimicked and complete.
White walls with a few breaks using grey colour either on floor or on the ceiling completed the overall experience of this stable, subtle and strong German shipping company.
